Est. 1946

A history built to build.

Eight decades of continuous construction — from postwar suburban Minneapolis to a national general contracting practice today.

1946

After serving in World War II, Paul Steiner and his partners founded Steiner & Koppleman in 1946 as a residential builder and development company in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. The postwar homebuilding boom gave the firm its start and its ethos — build for the long term, build to be lived in.

1970s

Steiner & Koppleman expanded into commercial and industrial development and construction, creating Steiner Development. The move solidified the firm's identity as a client-focused, full-service commercial real estate company and laid the foundation for the general contracting practice to come.

2003

Steiner Construction Services was formed to bring the firm's expertise and experience as a general contractor to a broader market. The new entity expanded rapidly into ground-up construction, tenant improvements, and renovation projects across a widening range of sectors — including healthcare, hospitality, retail, financial, and industrial.

Today

Steiner Construction Services, Inc. is a national general contractor serving the construction needs of both corporate and private clients, with completed work in thirty-five states. The company remains headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and stays close to the Twin Cities market that has been its foundation for eight decades.

Continuity

Same discipline, larger footprint.

The firm's leadership has changed hands over three generations, but the operating principles haven't. Steiner Construction still measures itself against the three things clients care about most: quality, staying on schedule, and delivering value.

The tools are more sophisticated. The projects are larger. The geography is national. The commitment to partnership hasn't moved.
